Below are some of the many activities that we recommend based on either our personal experience or the experience of one of our vacation rental home guests.

Jupiter and Jupiter Island have some of the best pristine beaches on the Atlantic coast. Most of them are very kid-friendly. Below are some of our favorites.
Dubois Park - Jupiter Beach
19075 DuBois Road, Jupiter, Florida
Located on the south side of the Jupiter Inlet and adjacent to the Jupiter Beach, this park is a good way to spend a day at the beach. The park has plenty of shade, picnic tables and places to relax. There is also a kids playground. A unique feature of the park is a pretty shallow lagoon to wade around and see the tropical fish. Note: great for all ages. Caution - some parts of the lagoon may have strong currents at certain tides.
Carlin Park - Jupiter Beach
400 S. S.R. A1A, Jupiter, Florida
Located just south of Indiantown Road of off of A1A and adjacent to Jupiter Beach, this is another great option for a day at the beach. With plenty of picnic tables, shade and even a few tennis courts, an exercise trail and a playground, there is a lot to do here. A nice amenity here is the Loggerhead Cafe which serves great fresh fish. Note: great for all ages.
Day Trips from Jupiter
Miami Children's Museum
This "museum" is like a huge building full of playrooms, where kids get to shop in a plastic supermarket, pretend play at a hospital, ride a police motorcycle or climb into a fire engine. They can even remotely operate a loading arm to load foam containers on a ship! Note: best for ages 2-8. Distance from Jupiter - about 1 hr 15 min.

Gold Coast Railroad Museum
If your kids like Thomas the Train, this place in Miami is a must see. Take a ride on a little train or even a private ride with the engineer in the front cab on the real locomotive. Tour several historic real trains on display. There is even a special Thomas playroom with dozens play tracks to play with for hours... Sometimes, check into their schedule, the real Thomas the Train and Sir Topham Hatt come to town for rides and fun. Note: this mostly open air museum is situated next door to the Miami Zoo if you want to add to the day trip. Best for ages 2-8. Distance from Jupiter - about 1 hr 30 min.

DisneyWorld, SeaWorld and other Orlando attractions
Orlando is about 2 hours aways from Jupiter, a pretty easy drive straight up the Florida Turnpike. If you consider the hassle of packing all the kid gear, unpacking it, checking into the hotel, checking out the next day or two later, a day trip starts sounding better. We've done it many times with our kids and it's definitely doable. Leave by 8 or 9 in the morning, enjoy the parks, have an early dinner, leave Orlando around 6-7 and the kids are exhausted and quiet on the ride back to Jupiter. Distance from Jupiter - about 2 hrs 15 min.
